He was kept under surveillance by the secret police of the [[Communist Romania|Communist regime]] (the [[Securitate]]). His autobiography, ''Ei Mi-au Programat Moartea'' (translated into English under the title "Repenters"), details this period and includes Dugulescu's claims that the Securitate tried to assassinate him.

Petru Dugulescu (b. November 18, 1945) is a Romanian Baptist pastor, poet, and a politician. A member of the Baptist Union of Romania and a representative of the National Peasants' Party (PNŢ), he played a part in the 1989 Revolution, being among the organizers of protests in Timişoara.
