RTL 8 is a commercial television station which is set to be launched in the Netherlands, on August 18, 2007.

The launch of a new television channel by RTL Nederland comes after the television channel Tien and other assets of John de Mol's Talpa Media were amalgamated with RTL Nederland. In exchange, John de Mol obtained a 26.3% share in the new RTL Nederland.[1]

Fons van Westerloo, director of RTL Nederland explained that the name of the new RTL channel was chosen as not to conflict with the 2nd largest Dutch commercial television channel, SBS 6.[1]
