Out of Jimmy's Head is Cartoon Network's first live-action/animated television series. It is based on the live-action/animated telefilm Re-Animated. The series premiered on Cartoon Network in September 14, 2007 to coincide the release of Re-Animated on DVD. The premiere was advertised to air at 7:00 PM of that day, but the premier actually aired several times earlier (7:00 AM, 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM).

Plot

The series continues where the original movie Re-Animated left off. A young boy named Jimmy Roberts gets into an accident at theme park Gollyworld, based on a cartoon character, Golly Gopher. Jimmy needs a brain transplant and gets the brain of Milt Appleday, the legendary cartoonist who created Golly Gopher and the other characters in the cartoon, which lets him see them in real life. Sonny Appleday, Milt's son, wants the brain to become a great cartoonist and somehow rule the world.

Differences from Re-Animated

In the original movie, Craig and Robin were of Asian descent and were surnamed Yoshida. The series has them named Wheeler, and of African American descent.

Golly's voice is now performed by Carlos Alazraqui, rather then Paul Reubens as it was in the movie.
