Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Living Colour - Stain (240x240).jpg
Thanks for uploading :Image:Living Colour - Stain (240x240).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. Image:Conception.jpg listed for deletion

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Conception.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license GFDL-self to license it under the GFDL, or to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use PD-self to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. feydey 18:16, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Porcupine-Tree-Logo.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Porcupine-Tree-Logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Porcupine Tree

Please do not use the fair use image you have uploaded. There exists a free image, and according to the first point of our Fair use criteria, fair use images can only be used when there are no free equivalents. Thanks for understanding. -- ReyBrujo 03:36, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please, stop adding the image Image:Photopromo.03.jpg to the article Porcupine Tree, as there is a free image available Image:Porcupine-Tree1.jpg. Note that your actions are going against the Wikipedia:Fair use criteria, point one, which establishes that Fair use images (like the one you are using) should only be used if there are no free equivalents. Thanks for understanding. -- ReyBrujo 03:57, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Warning
Warning

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly, as you are doing in Porcupine Tree. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. Rather than reverting, discuss disputed changes on the talk page. The revision you want is not going to be implemented by edit warring. Thank you. -- ReyBrujo 04:03, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That kind of comments don't help. Try searching for a free image that has the five members instead of complaining that one is missing. Flickr is a good place to start. Thanks. -- ReyBrujo 04:27, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:FOABP Video Still.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:FOABP Video Still.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -Panser Born- (talk) 18:14, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Blackfield_(new_shot).jpg

I have tagged Image:Blackfield_(new_shot).jpg as no rationale, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. MER-C 12:51, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Professional review ratings

Please see WP:ALBUM#Professional reviews, which says not to use star ratings for album reviews which don't use them. Have a nice day. --PEJL 19:44, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, reviews from Sputnikmusic should not be included, per WP:ALBUM#Non-professional. --PEJL 20:57, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed that you keep adding reviews from Sputnikmusic still. While I'm sure the reviewer knew what he was talking about, the guidelines under WP:ALBUM#Non-professional state that you can't add non-professional reviews, and specifically includes reviews from non-staff members at Sputnikmusic. Don't add the link again. Kerrow 17:52, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The last one I posted is a non-staff review but it's specified that is an "APPROVED" review. Isn't that enough? http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album.php?reviewid=11924 Chinese lucky strike 18:32, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, that is not enough. Only reviews labelled "STAFF" should be included. See WT:ALBUM#Sputnikmusic's placing on non-professional list. --PEJL 10:08, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What is your question? JodyB talk 18:36, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also note that I've reverted this per WP:ALBUM#Professional reviews and WP:ALBUM#Non-professional. Note specifically that magazines should be italicized and that Ultimate Guitar Archive is listed as a non-professional review source. Have a nice day. --PEJL 19:54, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to WP:ALBUM#Professional reviews: "The rating should use the same format as in the review, to accurately portray the score of the review." Why did you revert Kerrang rating to numbers when they use 'K' letters to review the albums? Chinese lucky strike 20:01, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That part of my change I agree is debatable. The reason I changed it was that I thought it clearer with numbers, as the reader might not know the maximum rating (if it is 4/5 or for example 4/10). I'd be fine if that part was changed back to "(KKKK)" (but in parentheses, per WP:ALBUM#Professional reviews), but I think it is clearer as it is. --PEJL 20:08, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since our last conversation WP:ALBUM#Professional reviews has been updated and now says not to include more than ten reviews. Consequently the reviews on Fear of a Blank Planet have been trimmed. --PEJL 05:09, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:O.F.M..jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add , without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 11:30, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can I help?

For any album or single cover use the following template when you Upload an image...add this to the Summary section, for Non-free use rationale...plus use the dropdown in Licensing for Album or Single cover, I have used this for the album "Pornograffitti" for example:

I, Chinese lucky strike, believe that the use of this non-free image in the article Pornograffitti is fair because:

 1. No free or public domain images have been located for this album.
 2. The image does not limit the copyright owners' rights to distribute the album in any way.
 3. This image is widely distributed in other venues, so its use on Wikipedia does not make it significantly more accessible or visible than it already is.
 4. The cover is being used for educational and informational purposes only, and its use is not believed to detract from the original album in any way, or deprive its copyright holders of any financial gain.
 5. The image is of lower resolution than the original cover. Copies made from it will be of inferior quality, and could not be used as artwork on illegal CD copies of the album.

Note that this does not claim fair use in articles other than Pornograffitti. If you wish to use this image in another article, please add a new fair use rationale below.

However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:32, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
