Mark Edward Lewis, born 1954, is an American historian of [[ancient China]]. He received his B.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the [[University of Chicago]]. Since 2002 he has been [[Kwoh-Ting Li]] Professor in [[Chinese Culture]] at [[Stanford University]]. Previously he was a Reader at the Faculty of Oriental Studies at [[Cambridge University]]. He is the author of a number of books on ancient China.
