The curriculum at Calderstone as well as assessment are based on the Ontario School Curriculum standards. Assessment and evaluation are integral parts of the instructional process, are continuous and ongoing, and involve a variety of strategies. Assessment and evaluation focus on process, produce and content and, we believe, should be a positive experience that promotes growth, learning and self-confidence in the learner. Assessment and evaluation will be closely aligned to the Ministry Curriculum Guidelines and Ministry Report Cards, which were introduced in all Ontario schools during the 1998-99 school year.

The five core academic subjects in the curriculum are English, social studies, mathematics, science, and french. Students are also able to take classes in music, health, computer technology, art, drama, physical education, and character education.

Athletics

Calderstone has short but solid tradition of both boys and girls athletics. The school has approximately 20 boys and girls sports teams that participate on the varsity NPPHEA league team, practice team and many club teams. Calderstone Athletic teams generally compete at the Division 1 level and the school is a member of the North Peel Physical Health Education Association.

The annual NPPEHA Basketball tournaments is one of the school's most anticipated events. It is held at the Calderstone Thunderdome (Gym). The Calderstone Hockey tournament held at Rink City Sportsplex is also a favourite event for students.

Boys at Calderstone participate in the following sports: Cross country, soccer, football, basketball, hockey, baseball, track & field, badminton and volleyball. Girls can participate in cross country, soccer, hockey, volleyball, football cheerleading, basketball, softball, track & field and badminton.

In 2006, the Boys Junior Basketball team and Volleyball team both won their first North Peel Championship and have added a second Regional Championship to their statistics in fall of 2007. In 2006 and 2007 the Boys Football team competed in the North Peel finals. The Senior Boys Basketball team has one of the strongest reputations in Peel, having advanced to playoffs and tournament finals during the 2007 year. This year they have been red hot. They have shown they are one of the top teams in the area by advancing to high positions in tournament's and only losing to one team. They have won the NPPHEA Championship & are looking for the Peel Regionals and the GTA Tournament.
