Hard Justice (2008) will be the fourth annual Hard Justice professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by American promotion, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). It will take place on August 10, 2008 from the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey.[4][1][2][3].

Background

The main feud heading into Hard Justice is between Samoa Joe and Booker T, with the two fighting over the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. At Victory Road, Joe defended the TNA World Heavyweight Championship against Booker T, in Booker T's hometown of Houston, Texas.[5] The match went to a no-contest, which meant Joe retained the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.[6] During the match, Joe attacked security, referees, and Booker T without mercy. Which caused Sting to enter the arena to try and calm Joe down.[5] Instead Joe gave Sting the middle finger and turned his back to continue his attack on Booker T, who was bleeding from the forehead and laying on his back in the middle of the ring.[6] Sting then hit Joe in the back with a baseball bat and allowed Booker T to get the cover and let Booker T's wife (Sharmell) count the pinfall, while referee Rudy Charles was unconscious.[5] Booker T and Sharmell then left the arena with the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. On the July 17 edition of TNA Impact!, Management Director Jim Cornette demanded that Booker T give the TNA World Heavyweight Championship back to the real champion; Joe.[7] Followed by Cornette announcing that at Hard Justice, Joe and Booker T will have another one on one encounter to determine the true champion. Afterwards, Joe entered the arena and declined Cornette's offer for Booker T to give him his belt back, because he didn't feel that he deserved it, since he was pinned by Booker T at Victory Road. Joe stated to Booker T to keep the belt until Hard Justice when he takes it back, though Joe was still recognized as the official champion. [7] On the following Impact!, that aired on July 24, Joe challenged Booker T to contest their championship at Hard Justice inside Six Sides of Steel.[8] Booker T then entered the Impact! Zone and made a challenge of his own, to add a extra stipulation to the match. Explained by Booker T, he offered to add weapons to the match, mainly tables, ladders, and chairs.[9] Joe accepted his terms, while Booker T agreed to Joe's. Later that night, Joe and Booker T contract signing, to make the match official at Hard Justice to be insides Six Sides of Steel filled with weapons, but before Joe could sign his name to the dotted line; the lights went off and when they came back on, Joe was unconscious with Booker T standing over him with Sting's trademark black baseball bat.[8]
