History
Mythology is a deeply rooted belief system as well as a Divinely Inspired commentary. It has been in existence since the dawn of man and will continue to do so beyond it. Mythology has and is being repeated indefinitely.
Mythology and the archetypes of gods and goddesses emerged in antiquity in separate cultures the Near East, Europe, Americas, Asia, Africa, Caribbean and Oceania cultures. It was a way to express man’s place in a tribe and a belief in cosmology; or “the origin, process and structure of the universe.” [5] When ancient cultures began to document their cultural myths around 2500 BCE in Mesopotamia and Egypt [6] collections of traditions and gods and goddesses gave a historical account of beliefs about creation and the afterlife.
Scholars studied mythology throughout the ages and theorized about its meaning and significance to a culture. They classified myth in a variety of ways. “Myth is a many-faceted personal and cultural phenomenon created to provide a reality and a unity to what is transitory and fragmented in the world that we experience.” [7] Others classified it as either rationale or metaphor, allegory or symbolism.
In the 20th century, Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung took a metaphorical approach to mythology and believed that there was a distinct similarity between dreams and myth. Carl Jung “went beyond the mere connection of myths and dreams to interpret myth as the projection of what he called the ‘collective unconscious’ of a race, that is, a revelation of the continuing psychic tendencies of a society.” [8] Mythology was viewed through the lens of psychology. Many believed that the myths of a culture were the workings of each human being’s inner psyche and accounted for why the myth of ancient man in various areas of the world seemed to have commonality.
“In recent years, the (gods and goddesses) have made something of a comeback… (as people) use their mythologies as a means to discover an inner spirituality; or the (heros,) gods or goddesses within.” [9] To modern man, “Myth in a sense is the highest reality.” [10] Today, the mythology of modern culture is being used in films and the media to promote universal understanding of storylines and characters regardless of culture or locale. The Myth of Modern Man is in this venue. Relating to mythology and sharing of universal storytelling through the Myth of Modern Man series, is congruent with shifts in personal growth, community upheaval, and forward moving, global consciousness. [11]
The Myth of Modern Manis the mythology of the new generation of the 21st century, global human race. It is a literary work as well as a symbology. It is particularly relevant today as a personal workbook to discovering one’s own higher consciousness, a guide to the new media, and a reference book for teachers of mythology and creative writing. It is a guide to the hero quest in which all human beings are destined to travel in their own minds.
The Use of Myth in the Media
Mythology is commonly used in all forms of the media. It has a unifying effect that promotes universal understanding to a worldwide audience because it is based on the workings of the human psyche. The most well-known use of the mythological hero quest is in the Star Wars film series [12] by visionary George Lucas. [13]

The Basis of the Myth of Modern Man
Rumors, lies, grief, and sorrow, et. al. are all manifestations of the workings of the inner psyche as well as bliss, joy, hope, love, and beneficence. All mental states of the human bodily condition are “filtered, if you wish to call it that, through an intricate system in each personal psyche. On a certain level, this is a truism on the earth plane as well as other worlds including the molecular, biologic, bacteriologic, and energetic worlds, ad infinitum. While human beings tend to classify all sorts of monotheistic hierarchy to these matters it is actually quite simple, rudimentary, and somewhat the same.
Simply put, a stimulus or event in the exterior world is filtered through the senses and evaluated in terms of pleasure or pain. The stimuli is assessed for its overall value in a hierarchy such as good, bad, desirable, dangerous etc. Then it is intellectualized in terms of how it serves a value scale. Next, it is compartmentalized as to how to use it. At the endpoint of this sieve is a mix of emotion and fantasy. What is the purpose of this rudimentary lesson in the workings of the human mind? This explanation illustrates the system of filters that occur most frequently in higher species that lead to the emotion of empathy or pathos.
It is the purpose of the Myth of Modern Man books to foster pathos in all brothers and sisters of the human race. It is the purpose of modern storytelling in the media to respond to a global audience. The Miracle Men (and Women) who realize and adjust value filters through personal service and universal storytelling, encourage the human race to ascend en masse to biological and spiritual states of evolutionary growth, personal progression, and enriched life satisfaction.

MYTH #14 RELATION“SHIPS”
Human beings in a frenzy to bond, be loved, and be accepted become obsessed with the continual search for the perfect mate. They learn they must accept love from the people who happen to come into their lives in a clandestine way. It smacks to them of giving up their grandiose idea of their destiny.
“Relation“ships” can be canoes of trust, steamers of goodwill, paddle wheelers of antiquity, and skiffs in a hurry. All vessels bob along the river of life until they reach the shore of finality. Some beings float, some use rudders, and some disappear over the waterfall of despair only to crash on the rocks below. But human beings are all in the same boat. Occasionally, they tap against each other, meet and conjoin. This formation or regatta allows people to move more quickly in the current of life. Some remain stillborn and float aimlessly but their vessel is never really alone.
Herein lays a devious Universal Truth. Whether a being rises or falls; succeeds or declines, it is rudimentary but somewhat beyond their control. The river of life is a deep universal mystery beyond the scope of what mankind can fathom. When human beings arrive on the shore of finality and “step out” of their boat, they will have a profound realization about the purpose of their life journey. Having arrived, they will look back and reminisce if only very briefly on the significance of the trip which was to join with other people in relationships.”

Myth of Modern Man Symbology
Symbologies, hieroglyphics and petroglyphs are all pictographs of particular, unique origin that allow the viewer the delightful surprise of emotional pathos in viewing the image. Hieroglyphics, on the one hand, were an attempt at a rudimentary alphabet of the metaphysical sort while true petroglyphs were more “symbiont” in nature. That is to mean, a tribe was able to mark their history in a very rudimentary way. Pictographs were a way to express a daily experience in combination with oneness with nature.
The Myth of Modern Man symbols represent core values as well emotions and the wanderings of the subconscious mind that are shared by the races and cultures of world as members of one, global human race. They do not need to be "figured out". They are experienced and can stand alone with commonality regardless of race, culture or language.
The Myth of Modern Man symbology in this venue is a cursive form of cosmology that represents wholeness. Cosmology in this sense is used to define a rationale that is conciliatory as well as Divine. That is to mean, while some people see symbology as an archaic way to express what can be said in words; symbology, hieroglyphs and petroglyphs go way beyond the level of simple speech to represent a human being as individual, a soul, and a piece of the Divine universe. They are delightful surprises that not only communicate elements of the human experience at this time but also that the human race still has a place in cosmology and that "we are here".
The Myth of Modern Man symbology is comprised of about 200 symbols which communicate a universal language.
Use of Myth of Modern Man Symbology
The Myth of Modern Man symbols are used for logos, sculpture and art work.
Personal Symbols
Each person has a personal symbol that represents their placement in a tribe, a community, a society, a member of the human race. Each person’s personal symbol is unique. It is; and remains, individual. It is “retired” from the Myth of Modern Man collection of symbologies and is not used again. Many people have tattooed their personal symbol on their bodies as a reminder of their personal hero quest.
Public Labyrinth
A public labyrinth is planned based on Stonehenge. It is 85 feet in diameter comprising about 1 acre of land. Twelve segments represent the time of day, stages of a person’s life, and seasons of the year. It will take 365 steps to walk the parameter. Bronze Myth of Modern Man sculpture representing the stages of life will fill out each quadrant which spans about 10-years of a person’s life. Plantings will bloom in each quadrant based on the season of the year. The public will be free to walk the circle for personal reflection and meditation.
