action

The two divorce mediators John Beckwith and Jeremy Gray are wedding crashers: They take part in weddings as uninvited guests and try to tow single women during the celebrations , which they usually succeed. John has slight doubts as to whether this lifestyle is right for him. Jeremy dismisses these doubts and persuades John to attend the wedding of one of the daughters of US Treasury Secretary William Cleary. This is how the friends smuggle themselves into this wedding. There they tie up with Cleary's two other daughters: John with Claire and Jeremy with Gloria. After the latter had fun on the beach, Gloria reveals to Jeremy that she was still a virgin and from then on shows herself to be very affectionate. Gloria is also the one who persuades her father to invite alleged venture capitalists John and Jeremy to the private party. There, after a short interlude from their mother, John and Claire get closer and closer, while Jeremy is harassed by both the nymphomaniac Gloria and the gay son of the family, Todd. The good relationship between John and Claire arouses the suspicion of Claire's fiancé Zachary, whom John had previously crippled with an overdose of eye drops, and Zachary starts an investigation. Gloria admits to Jeremy that she only said that she was still a virgin because "the men want to hear it". Zachary eventually reveals to the assembled society that they have all been lied to and deceived by John and Jeremy. Claire, obviously disappointed, then turns away from John without giving him an opportunity to justify himself. Then John and Jeremy have to leave the property.

Six months have passed. Jeremy has outwardly closed with the events, but in reality is still secretly meeting Gloria. John, on the other hand, has not gotten over it, he still loves Claire. This, in the middle of the wedding preparations, seems to still feel drawn to John. She also discovered more and more unpleasant traits in her fiancé Zachary. With Jeremy's support, John plans to sneak into Claire and Zachary's engagement party and confess his love to her. However, since Jeremy does not show up, John decides to carry out his project alone. Before he even makes it into the ballroom, he is intercepted and beaten up by Zachary and his friends. Disappointed that his friend has let him down, he heads to Jeremy's apartment. There he discovers him in the arms of Gloria. After this breach of trust, John ends his friendship with Jeremy.

As Jeremy plans his wedding to Gloria, John becomes more and more neglected. One day he sets out to be the "guru" of wedding crashing, Chazz. He has now specialized in funerals and takes John to a funeral to tow women away. In doing so, John realizes that he doesn't want to end up like Chazz. So he goes to Jeremy's wedding, to which he is invited as best man. During the ceremony, at the front of the altar, he confesses his love to Claire, who in turn is her sister Gloria's maid of honor. Claire, finally realizing who she really loves, chooses John. Zachary, who refuses to accept this and wants to pounce on John, is stopped by Jeremy with a punch.

After the wedding, John, Claire, Jeremy and Gloria drive away in their car. When John asks what they want to do now, Jeremy replies that a Japanese couple's wedding is taking place nearby. Claire suggests showing up there as a vocal troupe.
