Patrick Gaspard has been appointed to be Director of the Office of Political Affairs for president elect Barak Obama in his upcoming presidential administration. Gaspard is a Haitian American labor leader. He is the executive vice president for politics and legislation for the 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East labor union.[1] He is also on the advisory board for president-elect Barack Obama's presidential transition team.[2]

Gaspard worked on the 1988 Jesse Jackson presidential bid and the 1989 David Dinkins mayorial campaign.[3]
