John Resig is an application developer at Khan Academy[1]. He was a JavaScript tool developer for the Mozilla Corporation. He is also the creator and lead developer of the jQuery JavaScript library. This library's goal is to simplify the process of writing cross-browser JavaScript code.[2] For his work on jQuery he was inducted into the Rochester Institute of Technology's Innovation Hall of Fame on April 30, 2010.[3]
Resig is the author of the book Pro JavaScript Techniques, published by Apress in 2006.[4][5] As of 2010, he is working on another book for Manning Publications, Secrets of the JavaScript Ninja with Bear Bibeault, which the publisher plans to release in 2011.[6]
Resig has also started or contributed to many other JavaScript libraries, including:
- Processing.js,[7] a port of the Processing language to JavaScript.[8]
- EnvJS,[9] a port of the browser DOM to Rhino.[10]
- TestSwarm[11] a distributed continuous integration test suite for JavaScript.[12]
- Sizzle,[13] a standalone, pure-JavaScript, CSS selector engine.[14]
- FUEL,[15] a Firefox extension development kit.[16]
Resig is a frequent guest speaker at companies like Google and Yahoo! and has presented at many conferences related to web technology, including SXSW,[17] Webstock,[18] MIX, and Tech4Africa.[19]
He is also the author of a widely read blog, ejohn.org[20], and moderates a large number of 'subreddits' on Reddit.
