The Catocalini are a tribe of noctuoid moths, placed either in family Erebidae or family Noctuidae depending on classification scheme. In the former case, they are upranked to subfamily status, often as Erebinae though the name Catocalinae is older.
Most subtribes (tribes in the "Erebidae" arrangement) are small, but some – such as the Toxocampina and the Ophiusina – contain many genera.
The subtribes are:
- Acantholipina
- Aediina (disputed)
- Arytrurina
- Aventiina (disputed)
- Catocalina
- Ectypina (= Euclidiina)
- Ophiusina
- Synedina (= Melipotina)
- Toxocampina
Additionally, some include here a group of moths around the genus Araeopteron, otherwise held to belong to the tribe Eublemmini of subfamily Acontiinae.
