Myloplus rubripinnis, the Redhook myleus, is a medium to large omnivorious fish of the family Characidae that is found in the Amazon River in the countries of Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela. It is peaceful and schools often, and can grow to a length of 11 inches. They are also called the redhook silverdollar and are one of the fish referred to as "silver dollars". These fish are capable of delivering serious bites to humans.
