Franz Hermann Troschel

Franz Hermann Troschel (born October 10, 1810 in Spandau [today in Berlin ], † November 6, 1882 in Bonn ) was a German zoologist.

Life

Troschel studied mathematics and science in Berlin since 1831. In 1844 he completed his habilitation as a private lecturer in zoology at the University of Berlin. Since 1840 he was under the director Martin Lichtenstein curator at the Zoological Museum in Berlin. In 1849 he became professor of zoology and general science at the University of Bonn . In 1860/61 he was the rector of the university. He was a member of the Society of German Natural Scientists and Doctors .

Honors

In 1851 he was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina .

In his honor the following were named:

  • The parrot fish species Chlorurus troschelii
  • The Troschelstraße in Bonn district Poppelsdorf
