With extended playing time at 1st base, Adrian Gonzalez continued to improve his hitting, and showed flashes of gold glove caliber defense at first base. After the All-Star break in 2006 Gonzalez became a major threat in the Padres line-up, and he became the first player in Petco Park history to have more than one multiple home run game. Through July 26th, Gonzalez has 19 home runs, which is already more than Ryan Klesko, the 2005 Padre Home Run Leader, had. He is batting over 0.300.
