Patrick "Paddy" Kirk is a fictional character on the ITV soap opera Emmerdale. He is played by Dominic Brunt.

About Paddy

When Paddy Kirk first came to work as a locum for Zoe Tate’s vet surgery, he saw his time in Emmerdale as temporary. But even after he left, Paddy kept being drawn back to the small Yorkshire village. And the magnet was none other than Mandy Dingle. The duo were smitten with each other from first sight, but fate kept getting in the way of their burgeoning romance. Not least his disapproving mother. When Mrs Kirk discovered her son was in love with the tarty Dingle, she was absolutely horrified and offered Mandy money to marry her cousin Butch and leave her son alone. Inexplicably, Mandy takes the bait and is soon walking down the aisle with Butch. Banished from the bosom of the Dingles, Paddy is lonely and depressed. The next year, on the night of the Vet’s Ball, Paddy takes Bernice Blackstock to try and take his mind off Mandy, but it doesn’t work. He returns to her that night and romantically proposes, Mandy accepts and the next year they are finally man and wife. But the marriage doesn’t last! When Mandy is called away to Southampton to look after her ailing father, she begins an affair with his carer Neil. The split breaks Paddy’s heart and he spends the next year alone until he begins dating good pal Emily. Having both been mad enough to marry into the Dingle family, Paddy and Emily already have a lot in common and over the next year their relationship deepens. On the day that they are due to attend Paddy’s best mate Marlon and Tricia’s wedding, the bride gets cold feet and Emily and Paddy step in. Finally married the couple seem blissfully happy and even start fostering children, one of which is Debbie Jones who turns out to be Charity and Cain Dingle's daughter. But again, it wasn’t to last. Over the years, the marriage loses all its passion and the couple both feel dissatisfied with the relationship. While Emily starts trying to make it work, Paddy takes a different approach - by sleeping with her boss Viv Windsor. When the affair is revealed, Paddy sees a very different side to his meek and mild wife. Throwing his belongings at him in the Woolpack, Emily announces her husband’s betrayal to the shocked audience and leaves. Paddy is mortified by the revelations and tries desperately to keep a low profile over the next few months. After Emily absconds with baby Sarah, Paddy is horrified and decides its time he did something to improve his own life. When his employee Jo Stiles plays a practical joke on Paddy by pretending to be his internet lover Fireblade, the lovelorn vet goes to Portugal for a rendezvous. However, out there he realizes he’s been tricked and comes back with brassy babe Toni Daggert in tow. Jo is horrified as she thinks Toni is just after Paddy’s money so when the couple confess they’ve been deliberately getting revenge on her, she breathes a sigh of relief. With a new partner at the vets in old university pal Hari Prasard, Paddy sees the business improve after nearly being destroyed when late employee Max King deliberately poisoned Craig Briggs’ flock. On his personal front, Paddy has fallen in love again – this time with Toni, whom is now living with him and Marlon at Smithy cottage. Sadly for Paddy, Toni doesn’t reciprocate his feelings and, after a lot of awkwardness, Paddy moves on. When he finds stray dog Titch, Paddy starts getting closer to Del Dingle – whom he persuades to adopt the adorable pooch. The fun loving twosome start to fall for each other, much to the horror of Toni. Realizing she does love Paddy after all, Toni is gutted that she’s missed her chance so starts to work hard to split Paddy and Del up. It doesn’t work though and the couple share their first night together. Now Paddy’s got a third Dingle dame on his arm he seems happy, but can the path of true love run smooth this time?
