The Para-political scandal, or 'parapolitica' in Spanish refers to the 2006-2007 Colombian congressional scandal in which several right-leaning congressmen have been indicted for on suspicion of colluding with the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC), a right-wing paramilitary group involved in Colombia's forty-year armed conflict.

Several arrests have been made, most recently on February 15, 2007. Senator Álvaro Araújo Castro, brother of foreign minister Maria Consuelo Araújo, was among five congressmen arrested on that day[1]. Also arrested were Mauricio Pimiento, Dieb Maloof, Alfonso Campo Escobar, Luis Eduardo Vives.

The Colombian Supreme Court investigation into ties between paramilitary groups and congress has been based largely on files discovered on the laptop computer of former paramilitary leader Rodrigo Tovar Pupo, aka Jorge 40.[2]
