Principal McVicker

Principal McVicker (born 1938) (originally "McVicar") is a character in the cartoon Beavis and Butt-Head and voiced by Mike Judge.

He is the principal of Highland High, the school that Beavis and Butt-Head attend. McVicker suffers from extreme nervous tension caused by having to deal with Beavis and Butt-head. He speaks with a New York accent, constantly shakes, his voice is strained, and he keeps a bottle of Old Crow whiskey in his desk, from which he drinks even when people are present. McVicker also has a bottle of pills that he keeps in his desk and also will use(by the handful) in public. He also has threatened to kill Beavis and Butt-head.

McVicker has a fairly simplistic approach to discipline. On one occasion, he needs to pick out which of his students are likely to become criminals in order to select candidates for a Scared Straight program. Rather than look through students' files, he simply flips through a year book of photos and picks out the ones that he feels "look like criminals."

When Beavis and Butt-Head are mistakenly assumed to be deceased in the last episode, McVicker celebrates and organizes a party for the teachers. However when Beavis and Butt-Head show up at a school memorial fundraiser, McVicker ends up having a heart attack. Although Coach Buzzcut attempts to resuscitate him, McVicker's fate has never been revealed.

Overall, McVicker can be considered the primary archenemy of the duo throughout the show.

Trivia

  • The boys often refer to him as "McDicker."
  • Beavis and Butt-Head are the direct cause of McVicker's medicine abuse and overall wrecked nerves. In the Christmas episode "It's a Miserable Life" (a parody of the movie It's a Wonderful Life), Butt-Head observes life as if he were never born. In the vision, McVicker is shown with both hair and no nervous stuttering or shaking, at which point Butt-Head's guardian angel reveals that he has lost his hair in "real life" due to the stress of dealing with the two.
  • In the Christmas episode "Huh-Huh-Humbug," Mr. McVicker's family is shown. His wife and children also suffer from extreme nervous tension and strained voices. However, this was a dream of Beavis's, and so it is debatable whether or not the family in the dream even exist in the Beavis and Butt-head universe (they are never shown elsewhere.) McVicker was caught with a prostitute in Beavis and Butt-head Do America. Also, Butt-head said that "he doesn't know how to talk to chicks".
  • Beavis once did an impression of McVicker, comprising of a mixture of McVicker's trademark "uuuuhhhh" noise and Beavis' own "boi-oi-oi-oi-oing" sound effect.
  • In his first appearance in the episode "No Laughing", he was very different. His shaking was more visible, his voice was gruff instead of strained, he didn't make his trademark "uuuuhhhhh" noise, he was thinner, and his name was spelled "McVicar".
