Motto about welcoming new users, and emphasising the inclusive nature of WP (also maybe encouraging anon IPs to register...)EyeSereneTALK 00:40, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Many Are Called, But Few Are Chosen

It's easier to imagine taking one million steps in a single second, than to actually perform a single step.

I'm unsure about the reference, but that's where I found it from. ~Iceshark7 17:30, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

:Edit - Switched the reference from Donald Duck into Cornelius Coot, because he actually said this phrase in the series. ~Iceshark7 07:10, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not your average encyclopedia.

Anything but, really... Hersfold (talk/work) 14:59, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To err is human.

In support of Good Faith. •97198 talk 08:42, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Failure is an option, only when you let it be one.

May the Edit be with you, always. (T|C) 04:00, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Me fail worthiness? But thats unpossible!

Me fail worthiness? That's unpossible!

  • Support Great motto! Fixed quote for more similarity to original quote, and changed arrow to Ralph Wiggum. •97198 talk 08:42, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't you "huh" me! Nah, feel free to!

~AH1(TCU) 19:32, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What? My ugly face? Nooooo!!!

~AH1(TCU) 19:32, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't want anyone to know it, don't do it.

To eat the fruit you must climb the tree.

To eat the fruit, you must climb the tree.

  • Comment,I think RFA would be more suitable for the motto.
  • Support Good and motivational. •97198 talk 10:28, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Hey thats a good idea, I should've thought of that.--Sunny910910 10:41, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Either Version - While RFA is the process through which we get admins, it's not required for the candidate to request their adminship - they could be nominated by another and accept that nom. Contribs are important, as it's how we know we can trust a user. Most of the "against" votes in my RfA were due to insufficient mainspace contribs, so it does matter. Either one's fine. Hersfold (talk/work) 19:00, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We learn not at school but in life.

--Sunny910910 07:56, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support, clever ;) But I recommend you use WP:TUTORIAL and WP:SANDBOX instead of their lowercase formats, as many places on Wikipedia don't have lowercase shortcuts. –sebi 08:14, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support I like it! •97198 talk 10:30, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong Support, yes, a very good thing to remember in WP. Be bold! Hersfold (talk/work) 19:03, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

97198 talk 07:28, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If your strength is small, don't carry heavy burdens. If your words are worthless, don't give advice.

Unless we change our direction, we will end up where we are heading.

Old Chinese proverb. •97198 talk 10:09, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support Not bad... TomasBat 10:47, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. "Unless we vandalise, we will end up blocked"? Sorry, I'm not sure I get this one, but it would be more clear if the WP:VANDAL link was on the word direction. ~AH1(TCU) 14:03, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unless we change our direction, we will end up where we are heading.

Edit one. Per AH1. I liked one word links more in this case. Chrishyman 21:03, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Watch your mouth young man.

A common thing to be heard of a nagging mother. Many, many ways this can be changed, so I added my own edit below. Chrishyman 07:41, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Watch your mouth.

Edit One. In case you don't like the last link. Chrishyman 07:41, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support, this version's better. —May the Edit be with you, always. (T|C) 18:29, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak Support Its a bit too plain and short, but its better than the first one per not having that link. TomasBat 10:49, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak Support, yeah, "noob" does have a tendency to offend some people for some reason. Seems like this could be a bit more, though... but how? Hersfold (talk/work) 19:05, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On the internet, nobody knows you're a dog.

97198 talk 12:19, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - First, I really don't get it at all, and second, it reminds me of that controversy a year or two ago where that guy claimed to be a college professor when he was really living in a trailer somewhere. Sorry, I forget the name of the user, and I can't seem to find anything to tell me. Hersfold (talk/work) 19:17, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No portmanteau goes unmentioned

I just always find it funny that every portmanteau gets a mention in articles. Not bad, but I think it's a fun quirk of Wikipedia culture cohesion 02:24, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Very nice, how much?

Lets make this one a bit funny :P — E talkbots 20:41, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment - The phrase is nice, but I don't understand why it's linked to WP:FC only. How about a WP:BOUNTY link onto "how much", and leaving WP:FC onto "very nice"? ~Iceshark7 13:16, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Very nice, how much?

You've got mail!

Note that this only works on the user pages - it is designed to take you to your user talk page. ~Iceshark7 20:22, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't seem to notice that it would take into the talk page of the article you are clicking the motto from. I have made a second version below. ~Iceshark7 13:20, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You've got mail!
