Franklin Central High School is located in Franklin Township, Marion County, Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. It is the only high school under the responsibility of the Franklin Township Community School Corporation. The high school accommodates approximately 2400 students with 408,000 square feet of floor space. The high school's current enrollment is 2251 students. Franklin Central's school colors are royal blue and white. Their athletic nickname is the "Flashes." The de facto school mascot is named "Captain Flash."

Athletics and Programs

Franklin Central High School has won several different championships through out the years. Most recently the Franklin Central Cross Country Team was named the 2006 IHSAA State Runner-Up with Adam Green placing 4th in state and Jordan Mitchell placing 25th. Franklin Central's Boy's Varsity Basketball Team was named the 2007 Marion County Champions.

Franklin Central is also home to the F.C. Singers and High Voltage showchoirs. F.C. Singers is a 48 member mixed showchoir that has competed regionally and nationally. High Voltage is an all female showchoir that is in its third year. The choral department hosts the Annual Hoosier Showchoir Classic which began in 2005.

The Franklin Central Marching Flashes are very successful throughout their season. They preform at home football games and compete in class A marching bands competition during their season. Practices range from 3-4 hours a day 5 days a week.


WRFT-Flash FM, the high school radio station, was recognized as the best high school radio station by the Indiana Association of Student Broadcasters in 2004 and 2007.[1][2] The radio station operates 24 hours a day. The radio station frequency is 91.5 FM.



The Pilot Flashes is the student published newspaper that is printed once a month. The Pilot Flashes was established in 1917.

Patrick Albert- Held an annual 5.0 grade point average, and participant in the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens and 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. Named Most Valuble Player in the 2004 NBA All Star Game scoring 98 points with 36 blocked shots.
