Medford, Oregon and snow

Thank you for adding the the Medford article, however there are several problems with the entry. This is why it has been removed three times. It's nothing personal, and had nothing to do with you not having an account. It has to do with what Wikipedia is, see WP:NOT as to what should not be included in Wikipedia articles. For instance, blog like entries in the climate area are frowned upon. First it is climate (thus not the daily or even monthly weather report) section, so it should describe the climate, which consists of averages, not what it did on a couple days this winter. At most, if these were record snowfalls (as in the most all time in Medford) then they could be included. But no matter what, the entry needs to be properly sourced from a reliable source as defined by Wikipedia. Hopefully this will not discourage you from continuing to edit, as the Medford article could use some additional editors to help improve the quality. Let me know if you have any questions. I have never edited you user page. I have edited here, which is your talk page. I edited here because of your additions to the Medford article, as outlined above. Almost everytime someone edits a talk page to an article or user page, the article (what we call the mainspace) or user page are then added to the editing user's "watchlist" that can be viewed in the upper right hand corner. And vice versa (edit an article and the article's talk page is added to the watchlist as well. This can be changed in an editor's preferences, also in the upper right corner. So I and Katr67 both saw your hidden comment via the "diff" feature, read WP:DIFF for an explanation on that feature. Neither of us edited you user page, but as part of the community we both spotted an issue with the edit . As the community is self-policing, that is how issues are dealt with. I encourage you to read through all the linked items now on this page to become more familiar with the community and the various rules. It will make things clearer for you. But feel free to ask myself or stop by the Oregon project and leave a note on the talk page there if you have questions or need assistance. Happy editing. Clown COTW

Greetings once again to members of the best encyclopedia online about Oregon (aka WP:ORE)! Last week we improved Neil Goldschmidt to close to GA level, and moved the Wells Fargo Center from Stub to Start for the Collaboration of the Week. This week we’re clowning around with some bozo from Oregon, Pinto Colvig, and then in an attempt to garner another DYK, the rather stubby Cooper Spur. As always, any contribution is appreciated, and to opt out of these messages visit here.

As we have quite a few new members over the last six months, I’ll make another pitch for our various subprojects. Listed here, you will find a variety of groups focused on specific areas of Oregon from transportation to culture. Copyright problems with Image:GoogleAerial.jpg

An image that you uploaded, Image:GoogleAerial.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Sounds good. That's what is preferred due to the various copyright issues that come up, as you are now aware off. Best not to find things off the web, except federal government sites where many times the items are public domain. When you have time Wikipedia:Copyrights is a good thing to read. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. Old Buildings and Pictures

Greetings from WP:WikiProject Oregon. Blah blah blah. This week we have our semi-annual Picture Drive and a article creation drive for the NRHP List. For the picture drive, go take a picture, or find a free use one (lots of links to gov sites above) and upload it Wikipedia. For the National Register of Historic Places, find a red link on the main Oregon list or one of the county lists at start a new article. March 14 OR COTW

Hello again or welcome if you are new to WP:WikiProject Oregon! Last week we did a picture drive and a NRHP creation drive. It’s hard to track the picture results, but I know I saw quite a few pictures added, so great job. With NRHP we added 7 that I saw: Mitchell Recreation Area, Salem First United Methodist Church, Portland City Hall, Crater Lake Lodge, Central Library (Portland, Oregon), Watchman Lookout Station, and Alvin T. Smith House; with most now nominated for DYK’s! So great work everybody.

This week, its back to stubs with one of the largest newspapers in the state, The Register-Guard, and a request with Oregon Coast. Feel free to help with either one, and the paper article is so short a DYK should be pretty easy to get (just need 5X expansion).
