Hi Shivanayak, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions to the coolest online encyclopedia I know of =). I sure hope you stick around; we're always in need of more people to create new articles and improve the ones we already have. You'll probably find it easiest to start with a tutorial of how the wikipedia works, and you can test stuff for yourself in the sandbox. When you're contributing, you'll probably find the manual of style to be helpful, and you'll also want to remember a couple important guidelines. First, write from a neutral point of view, second, be bold in editing pages, and third, use wikiquette. Those are probably the most important ones, and you can take a look at some others at the policies and guidelines page. You might also be interested in how to write a great article and possibly adding some images to your articles.

Be sure to get involved in the community – you can contact me at my talk page if you have any questions, and you can check out the village pump, where lots of wikipedians hang out and discuss things. If you're looking for something to do, check out the community portal. And whenever you ask a question or post something on a talk page, be sure to sign your name by typing ~~~~.

Again, welcome! It's great to have you. Happy editing! --Spangineer (háblame) 10:54, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)

Hi, nice pics. The one before the linked image is a male Purple-rumped Sunbird. The one on the linked page looks like a male Yellow-bellied Flowerpecker, a relative of the sunbirds. Have i missed any images? jimfbleak

I've not seen that image before. The flowerpecker is the one with dark grey upperparts, white throat aand yellow breast. The sunbird has the purple chin, yellow belly, brown back with a patch of green on the bend of the wing. I'll try to ID the image you put on my page, but it may be tomorrow. jimfbleak 15:44, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)

the image on my talk page is a Common Tailorbird. Incidentally, I notice that you have not given the source of this image on the image page. If they are your images, you need to say so, otherwise they may be deleted if the copyright is unclear, which would be a great pity. jimfbleak 05:41, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
thanks, will do, jim
can you upload the Yellow-bellied Flowerpecker image, please (labelled as Sunbird(nectarinia) on your site. This would be a good image for the flowerpecker article, thanks, Jim

I see what you mean!. The image on your site looks much darker-backed and paler-throated than the website image, but that could be a trick of the light, and the gape and tail aren't visible. Having seen both images, I would be happy with yours as a female purple-rumped. Jim

Praying mantis

It's a good picture so I wanted to help. I cropped it, auto-leveled it, blurred the background and sharpened the praying mantis. --brian0918™ 03:32, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I don't think Wikipedia accepts non-commercial-only images. --brian0918™ 02:55, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Karnataka map

Since the districts have changed, could you point me to a new map of Karnataka available online. Don't worry about the copyrights, I need an image for reference. User:Nichalp/sg 18:15, July 14, 2005 (UTC)

The names are different with respect to the Manglore are district. A google image search reveals a lot of district maps aailable online. Could you choose the best one possible with the highest resolution? Thanks User:Nichalp/sg 06:45, July 15, 2005 (UTC)
You wan't a district map don't you? User:Nichalp/sg 08:48, July 15, 2005 (UTC)

See: Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian districts. I'll be making the district map. I want to make the district map common to all states. Colours, palatte etc. I can make you two maps. 1) The numbered district map like the map of the states of India, and another of the towns. Of with you? User:Nichalp/sg 05:51, July 16, 2005 (UTC)

Look at the Sikkim page. Two maps are needed. User:Nichalp/sg 07:04, July 16, 2005 (UTC)

Parrot

Do you have a larger version of the image? The larger the better. --brian0918™ Ni! 05:10, 16 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Easier to tell it's a male than which species. The red-shoulders of Alexandrine might not be visible from this angle, so I've discounted that diagnostic feature. The bill doesn't look heavy enough for Alex, and the nape seems too narrow with the black going too far back fro that species. Most importantly, your image shows a thin black loral stripe, perfect for krameri, not for eupatria. jimfbleak 15:09, 16 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
It looks much better, but can you crop it less closely? (especially on the left, top, and bottom). I'd suggest submitting it to FPC and seeing how it goes. --brian0918™ Ni! 16:31, 16 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Karnataka district map

Sorry for the delay. I've made a blank district map of Karnataka: Image:Karnataka-district-blank.png. Let me know if this is OK. I've used green to colour-cordinate the Wikiproject Indian districts. Let me know if this is OK. I'll proceed to the next step of numbering and adding cities. Regards, User:Nichalp/sg 18:33, July 30, 2005 (UTC)

I don't think that's necessary. That is shown in the location karnataka map. I've compressed the palatte using PNG-8bit 4 colours. User:Nichalp/sg 06:53, August 1, 2005 (UTC)
