Welcome to WikiProject Statistics. Some Wikipedians have formed this collaboration resource and group, whose aim is:

To improve Wikipedia's coverage of statistics and the organization of information and articles on this topic.

This page and its subpages contain their suggestions and various resources; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians interested in the topic. If you would like to help, please join the project, inquire on the talk page and see the to do lists below.

Anscombe's quartet, four datasets constructed by Francis Anscombe to have identical simple statistical properties including the same means, variances, and regression lines, but which are revealed to be very different when inspected graphically.

Scope

This WikiProject covers articles related to statistics, including the history of statistics and biographies of statisticians. Articles within its scope include those in:

There is a list of statistical topics which is not, in its present form, very sophisticated. At present it is being extended to include existing articles not previously listed. Please add other articles not already listed. Lists are far more versatile than categories, but this list doesn't take advantage of all of that. Look at list of mathematics articles and lists of mathematics topics (the latter is a magnificent thing!).

Some priority articles that the project hopes to make progress with are those in:

Guidelines

Please add new general statistics articles to Category:Statistics or preferably to one or more of its sub-categories. Tag stubs with {{statistics-stub}}.

Articles on probability distributions should include the {{Probability distribution}} infobox (feel free to leave some parameters blank) and be added to the appropriate sub-category of Category:Probability distributions. Tag stubs with {{probability-stub}}.

Articles on statisticians should include an {{infobox scientist}} if basic information such as year of birth is known, and be added to Category:Statisticians or one of its sub-categories. Tag stubs with ... (propose creation of {{statistician-stub}} ?)

{{Statistics}} {{ProbDistributions}}

Infobox templates

{{Probability distribution}} {{Probability distribution two}} {{Infobox scientist}}

All parameters in {{Probability distribution}} and {{Probability distribution two}} must be kept in the code to avoid raw code for them appearing in the infobox — leave blank if unknown. Inapplicable parameters in {{Infobox scientist}} can be deleted. Applicable but unknown parameters should be kept but left blank.
