Mosko Alkalai
Mosko Alkalai (March 10, 1931 - April 1, 2008) was an Israeli stage and fim actor. He was best known a tstring of hits including Blaumilch Canal, The Fox in the Chicken Coop and Yana's Friends.
Alkalai's career in acting started relatively late, though his career in film and theaters roles spanned over 21 years.[1] He appeared in dozens of Israeli films and theater pieces.[1] Alkalai was extremely active in professional organizations within the Israeli entertainment industry. He served as the chairman of Israeli Union of Performing Arts.[1] Alkalai was also a member of the Israeli Film Academy and the Israeli Arts Council.[1]
Alkalai was the 2003 winner of the Israeli Film Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award.[1]
Mosko Alkalai died of respiratory failure in Tel Aviv at the age of 77 on April 1, 2008.[1] He had underwent surgery at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center several weeks prior to his death, but never recovered.[1] His casket was placed at the Habima National Theatre in Tel Aviv for viewing, before he was buried at Kiryat Shaul Cemetery.[1] He was survived by his wife, Rodika, and their two sons, Ron and Shai.[1]
