Holland, Vt (and others)

I noticed that you had placed WP cities banners on various towns in Vermont. Most of these towns are pretty small and don't even qualify for the appellation "city" in tiny Vermont. Is it okay to include them? Is there no "lower cap" on population? Student7 (talk) 02:54, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi; this is a good question, and thanks for asking it. It's good to see that some pay attention. :) Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities gives the scope of that project as including "municipalities and other civil divisions, including cities, towns, villages, hamlets, townships, unincorporated communities, sections of municipalities, and neighborhoods", so I think I'm within that scope here. What is the purpose of tagging every article for every place?

Having many small municipalities included on my watchlist, I have seen an astounding number of municipalities being tagged, mostly by you, as part of the Cities Wikiproject, including places with barely hundreds of residents. Is it the intention of this project to tag every single article for every municipality on earth as part of this project? Is there manpower to do all of the tagging and why shouldn't this be done by bot? New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. place name disambiguation

I undid your move of Flagstaff Lake (Maine) to Flagstaff Lake. While your assertion that there are no other such articles on Wikipedia is correct, it is a temporary situation. Recent pain with Blue Mountains vs. Blue Mountains (Australia) (see discussion) vividly demonstrates how important it is not to use unqualified names unless the place is extremely well-known, such as Paris, Alps, Grand Canyon, etc. Regards, —EncMstr (talk) 16:31, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Braintree Split: Stub, not Start?

Can you give me your rationale for giving Braintree Split a stub rating? I put some amount of effort into the article yesterday, including adding an infobox including map, adding substantial new material and citing both my own and previous source material. It seems to me it has satisfied the criteria on WP:ASSESS to meet start class. Compare the previous version with the current, and then click the examples for "stub" and "start" in the assesment grade table. I think you're right - it really is a start-class article, and I have edited that article's talk page to indicate that. The real reason it got marked as "stub" for the Roads project was that it was marked with a road stub template (on the mainspace page, not the talk page). I also removed that to prevent this sort of confusion from happening again. I guess the bottom line is that it's possible for an article to be marked as a stub on any of its project banners (if any) on its talk page, and also on its mainspace page. Anyone (including both of us) that raises an article above stub class should remember to revise all of these, since of course, in contrast to importance ratings, a class rating applies to all projects. I'm not trying to say that this was "your mistake" for not removing the stub template from the mainspace page, of course, since I was a bit too quick on the trigger as well. hello, I'm in need of help. The wikiproject:Delaware is saying to add a userbox, but I'm very confused. I have looked at the tutorial and the wiki help many times over, but the farthest I have gotten was to make the box, but my entire userpage is in the box. Any idea of what I am doing wrong? Please place a {{hangon}} tag on the article and expand it to include some reasonable assertion of notability. In the future, it might be a good idea to create "works in progress" pages in your userspace, and not move them into the main article space until the contents are enough to avoid a call for speedy deletion.
