Rink hockey in Portugal

Hey, thanks for the work you've been doing on rink hockey Portuguese clubs, competitions and such. Maybe we should try to collaborate somehow in making everything better. Cheers --Serte 20:09, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FIBA templates

Great job on the FIBA templates! It was long overdue for national basketball teams. // Laughing Man 23:21, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations

Congratulations on all your hard work on different sports. You are working really great and on various sports that get overlooked, from rink hockey to volleyball, basketball, handball, futsal, and so on. Great job and keep on going. Any collaboration you want to do, just tell me in my talk page. --Serte 23:48, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lusophony Games

Hey Calapez, good to see more big events being held, like the now newly born Lusophony Games. I was checking out the pages, mainly edited and created by you and since you are from Portugal I think you have more inside information then I do here in Holland. I was wondering why Brazil doesn't take part in Football and Volleyball for instance. Is there a reason for that? Thanks in advance, SportsAddicted 02:56, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but European competitions are also fully running, although there is Euro 2008 qualification this week. Anyways, I don't really matter, I was just wondering why a big football country like Brazil did not participate. SportsAddicted 16:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK thanks, that is quite interesting indeed. SportsAddicted 16:23, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Football edits and stubs

Hi there,

First off, great job with the football articles. However, please consider adding a national stub when creating articles, as this would make stubsorting much easier. Thanks and keep up the good work--Thomas.macmillan 18:59, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Zambian Cup/Zambian Challenge Cup

I was wondering what the difference is between these two competitions? I notice also that both had trophies called the Castle Cup. I wonder if a note could be added for the uninitiated, like me. Thanks. Rexparry sydney 02:12, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

San Marino football squads

Bornholm "national" team

Hi Calapez

I don't read Portuguese so I haven't seen your source for this article, however, it is more than a little faulty. The BBU (Bornholms Boldspil-Union) is a district branch of amateur wing of the Danish Football Association, DBU. See also my post to WP:Football here. The combination of the use of the word "national" + the claim that this team is not associated with the UEFA and FIFA gives the reader the impression that this team represents an ethnic minority, and operates outside of the normal system, somewhat like the team representing Tibet. Both notions are incorrect.

1) The BBU is a mere district branch of the amateur wing (Lokalunionerne) of the Danish Football Association, DBU, and the DBU is a member of both UEFA and FIFA. The team is a group of players from the amateur clubs on Bornholm. Many Danish amateur teams travel to Norway, Sweden or Finland and play a friendly match with other teams, but these are common and non-notable events.

2) Bornholm has no "national" identity separate from the rest of Denmark. The dialect spoken by the Bornholmers is a bit unique, but so is the accents of at several other Danish districts, including West Jutland, South Jutland, Copenhagen, Lolland, and Funen (my own dialect). So in short, it is an article about a non-notable amateur team from a Danish island without any special status whatsoever. I presume non-Scandinavians might mistake Bornholmers for an ethnic minority because the island is so remote from the rest of Denmark, and because Denmark has two other distant provinces (the Faroes and Greenland) that are different from the rest of the country, but this is not the case for Bornholm. Check any map of how Denmark looked before the war in 1658, and you'll understand why; in 1658, Denmark simply lost control over the provinces between Bornholm and the rest of modern Denmark, so since then, Bornholm has been geographically isolated from the rest of the country. I would agree that teams from the Faroes or Greenland could be considered national teams, as both Faroese and Greenlanders are unique ethnic groups, and hold special status within the Danish state, but Bornholm simply doesn't fall into this category, it is a municipality like Denmark's 97 others. The other DBU regional branches don't hold any special status either. Btw, the logo you're using on the article represents the BBU, not the team as such. If you doubt that the BBU is a part of the DBU please note that the website of the BBU is located at http://www.bbu.dbu.dk/ Happy editing. If you really believe that this group of amateurs is notable, the article should at the very least be corrected regarding its status, and the "national" must go. In this case, it should be named Bornholm official football team (inspired by Frøyan official football team), but the latter team isn't notable either. The flag you use on the page to represent Bornholm holds no official status, and the version shown is not the most common, that would have a while border between red and green. Two other Danish regions have unofficial flags as well, Ærø and Vendsyssel but in all three cases, it is a tourism stunt. Valentinian T / C 12:05, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Portuguese basketball clubs

Hello there. You have done a great job with the Portuguese basketball clubs. I wanted to let you know of a template that may help you simplify the infobox syntax: {{Infobox Basketball club}}. Rolando 13:31, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fedefutbol

Dear Calapez, What i mean about the "Antarcitica national football team" is that Antarcitica never had a Football team but fedefutbol says, and someone may have created the article. But very confusing. If you check the "NF-Board" on the site and see the South American teams you may see antarcitica.Thanks.--Cokepepsi 01:33, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:GambiaPorts.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:GambiaPorts.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:45, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Hello United.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Hello United.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:19, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:GÍ_Gøta.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:GÍ_Gøta.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Dream out loud (talk) 20:25, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

National Football team histories

You have added many resumes of the history of teams' participation in tournaments. I have seen another editor posting what looks like a very similar style of comment, which is inconsistent with your usual command of English, which makes me wonder what might be the source of these comments and whether there is a copyvio issue. Regardless of this, these comments do not seem to be encyclopaedic in style. Kevin McE (talk) 23:28, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You admit to "adapting" some texts from Fifa.com. I took an example of the Equatorial Guinea page that you edited on 11th December. You changed one letter (changing plying to the inappropriate playing) which is scarcely definable as adaptation. Some of the links you made, such as linking the names of countries instead of the article for the relevant national team, were inappropriate. These edits are clearly copyvios. You must revert them as soon as you can. Kevin McE (talk) 11:23, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Rather than leave the project in violation of international law, I have reverted these copyvios. Please be more responsible in your future edits, and be prepared to take responsibility for correcting your own erroneous edits. Kevin McE (talk) 00:19, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Gombak_United_FC.gif

I have tagged Image:Gombak_United_FC.gif as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Some examples can be found at Wikipedia:Use rationale examples. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free. Thank you. Unspecified source for Image:Martinique_FA.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Martinique_FA.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:16, 24 March 2008 (UTC). Speedy deletion of Image:World Map IHF.png

A tag has been placed on Image:World Map IHF.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:World Map IHF.png|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Sdrtirs (talk) 17:03, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. Image copyright problem with Image:AD Machico.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:AD Machico.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

The following images also have this problem:

Please stop placing speedy deletion tags on the articles of minor league African football clubs. You claim they don't exist but you provide no evidence for that. Send them to articles for deletion if you want but I will systematically rollback all the speedy tags. Thank you, Pascal.Tesson (talk) 22:09, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

May 2008

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. I just went through about twenty Articles for Deletion discussions you created, adding {{unsigned}} templates because you forgot to sign. Not fun. Multiple Afds

In the future you might wish to bundle Afds about similiar topics such as the football clubs you recently nominated. It's a bit different but makes things much simpler during discussions. Directions are available at Template:AfD footer (multiple). Good job finding those articles. ~ Eóin (talk) 00:17, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Simba SC.jpg.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 22:54, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CPV Olympics 2008

Hi there, Calapez. Your edits to Cape Verde at the 2008 Summer Olympics added tables, but removed the references. Since there was only one participant on each sport, and in line with the style used in the articles of the previous editions (1996, 2000, 2004), I'd suggest keeping the layout as it was before, without the tables, since these would make more sense if there were several people on each modality. This also makes the wikicode simpler and easier to maintain. What do you think? Waldir talk 19:02, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem

Thanks for your uploads. You've indicated that the following images are being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why they meet Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page an image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
