Stenlille Municipality

Stenlille municipality is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in West Zealand County on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in east Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 94 km², and has a total population of 5,544 (2005). Its mayor is Vagn Guldborg, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.

The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Stenlille.

Neighboring municipalities are Ringsted to the southeast, Tølløse to the northeast, Jernløse to the north, Dianalund and Slagelse to the west, and Sorø to the south.

By January 1, 2007 Stenlille municipality will cease to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Sorø and Dianalund municipalities to form the new Sorø municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 317 km² and a total population of 28,336 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Sjælland ("Region Zealand").
