Terex 33-19 "Titan"

The Terex Titan was a massive Canadian earth-hauling lorry prototype built by the Terex Corporation of General Motors. It had an empty weight of 235 tonnes, and a maximum loaded weight of 550 tonnes. It was driven by a 3300 horsepower (2,460 kW) engine. It is 66 feet (20 m) long and 22.6 feet (6.9 m) tall. It is 56 feet (17.1 m) tall with the dump box extended. Built in late 1974 at GM's London, Ontario Plant, it was to undergo 12 months testing in California. In 1978, it was assembled in Sparwood BC for Kaiser Resources Ltd. It was retired from service at a coal mine in 1990 and is now located in Sparwood.

The engine has since been removed. No trucks of this size have ever been built since, partly due to the enormous stresses and strains on their rigid frames.

The modern Liebherr T 282B truck has smaller dimensions and smaller mass, but larger load capacity and a more powerful engine.
