Osich played college baseball at Oregon State University. He missed the 2010 season, recovering from Tommy John Surgery.[1] Despite the injury, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the seventh round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft.[2] He did not sign and returned to Oregon State. In his final season at Oregon State in 2011 he threw a no-hitter against UCLA.[3] He was then drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the sixth round of the 2011 MLB Draft and signed.
