Shred-it is a document destruction company, founded by the late Greg Brophy in 1988 and incorporated in 1989. With headquarters in Oakville, Ontario, and a head office in Cincinnati, Ohio,[1] the company operates in more than 140 markets, in 17 different countries.[2] In 2014, Shred-it merged with Cintas Document Shredding, which now operates under the Shred-it name.[3] In late 2015 Shred It was acquired by Stericycle Inc in a 2.4B dollar deal. The company now employs more than 5000 associates, with a fleet of 2000 trucks, servicing over 300,000 customers each year.[4][failed verification] Shred-it specializes in mobile on-site and off-site secure paper shredding and confidential waste disposal. They also offer hard drive destruction, as well as different types of media destruction. Upon completion of shredding, each client is provided with a Certificate of Destruction.
