Shred-it is a document destruction company, founded by the late Greg Brophy in 1987[1] and incorporated in 1989. With headquarters in Oakville, Ontario, and a head office in Cincinnati, Ohio,[2] the company operates in more than 140 markets in 17 different countries.[3] In 2014, Shred-it merged with Cintas Document Shredding, which now operates under the Shred-it name.[4] In late 2015, Shred-it was acquired by Stericycle Inc. in a US$2.4 Billion deal. The company now employs more than 5,000 associates, with a fleet of 2,000 trucks, servicing over 300,000 customers each year.[citation needed] Shred-it specializes in mobile on-site and off-site secure paper shredding and confidential waste disposal. With the aquisition by Stericycle, their focus is moving towards plant based off site shredding. They also offer hard drive destruction, as well as different types of media destruction.
