Lamb of God Drummer Chris Adler

Chris Adler is an American drummer who plays for the heavy metal band Lamb Of God. He also plays the piano, acoustic guitar, bass guitar and saxophone. He is a vegetarian along with bandmate John Campbell.

Early career

Adler decided to focus on drumming during his stay at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1990 when, along with Mark Morton and John Campbell, he founded the proto-Lamb Of God band, Burn The Priest. After four years of touring, they changed the name of the band to Lamb Of God because of complaints from Catholic and Christian communities.

Adler also managed the band until he could no longer handle writing, recording and touring all at once. He was also a co-producer of first album New American Gospel under the name Lamb of God.

Fame

As Lamb Of God gained more recognition throughout the years, Adler's reputation as a proficient drummer in the metal scene grew as well. Typically, he would write his drum parts after his band-mates had brought him some riffs and ideas. As seen on the Killadelphia DVD, Chris tried to create unique music while not taking anything away from the riffs or the song itself.

Utilising strong symmetry in his drumming, and being highly skilled in his double bass work, Adler is one of the few drummers known to use the heel-toe method to great effect. He taught himself this technique at a young age.[citation needed]

Equipment

Chris Adler uses Saturn Series Mapex drums, Aquarian drumheads, Axis Pedals and Meinl Percussion cymbals. He has his own 24" Meinl MB20 signature ride cymbal, as well as his own 'Chris Adler' Pro-Mark drum sticks.
