Abdelaziz Salem, an Egyptian engineer and a First President of Confederation of African Football

Career

He was President of the Egyptian Football Association from 1952 to 1959, He was replaced by the war minister Abdel Hakim Amer. He is also the first African member of the FIFA Executive Committee. He is present at the meeting of 8 which led to the birth of the African soccer confederation, of which he became the first president from 1957 to 1958.

Il est président de la fédération égyptienne de football de 1952 à 1959 ; il est alors remplacé par le ministre de la guerre Abdel Hakim Amer[1]. Il est également le premier membre africain du comité exécutif de la FIFA. Il est présent lors de la réunion du 8 qui conduit à la naissance de la confédération africaine de football[2], dont il devient le premier président de 1957 à 1958.

Hommages

En hommage à Abdelaziz Salem, le premier trophée (de 1957 à 1978) de la Coupe d'Afrique des nations de football s'appelle Trophée Abdelaziz-Abdallah-Salem.
