A notable soprano from Puerto Rico, known for her shining higher register and ability to reach into smooth, husky mezzo-soprano notes. Martínez was a protegé of the reknowned tenor Placido Domingo. Martínez made her debut in 1997 in the role of Solea in Penella's opera El Gato Montes with the Washington Opera opposite Domingo.
