Jacqueline Filliozat

A major scholar of the Pali language and literature, Jacqueline Filliozat (born Jacqueline Ver Eecke) is especially renowned for her application of the library sciences to collections of palm-leaf manuscripts originating in Theravada Southeast Asia (viz., Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Burma, Laos, Thailand). In addition to her published work, she is responsible for the creation of library catalogs manuscripts, and her surveys resulted in the discovery of several previously unknown works in the Pali language.

Biography

Born in 1942, and joining the EFEO in 1969, Filliozat retired in 2006, but continues to be an influential figure in her field of expertise. She lived for many years in Bangkok, Thailand, with frequent travel throughout Asia. A more precise timeline of her life and travels is not, at present, available.
