The Most Esteemed Order of the Defender of the Realm (Darjah Yang Mulia Pangkuan Negara) is a Malaysian federal award presented for meritous service to the country. The order has six ranks:

  • Grand Commander of the Order of the Defender of the Realm (SMN) (Seri Maharaja Mangku Negara), limited to 25 recipients excluding foreign citizens who are conferred honorary awards. The recipient of this award receives the title Tun.
  • Commander of the Order of the Defender of the Realm (PMN) (Panglima Mangku Negara), limited to 75 recipients excluding foreign citizens who are conferred honorary awards. The recipient of this award receives the title Tan Sri.
  • Companion of the Order of the Defender of the Realm (JMN) (Johan Mangku Negara)
  • Officer of the Order of the Defender of the Realm (KMN) (Kesatria Mangku Negara)
  • Member of the Order of the Defender of the Realm (AMN) (Ahli Mangku Negara)
  • Medal of the Order of the Defender of the Realm (PPN) ('Pingat Pangkuan Negara)

The order was instituted 6 August, 1958 and was initially had the five highest ranks. The medal was added 19 August, 1960.
