Dorchester Academy near Midway, Georgia is a historic site that is listed, in 2009, as one of the top 11 U.S. most endangered historic sites.[3] The Dorchester Academy Boys' Dormitory on the site was built in 1935, was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1986,[1] and was declared a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 2006.[2][4]

The dormitory historic site is significant for its association with the Southern Christian Leadership's Citizen Education Program. The program worked toward attaining equality for blacks in the south by teaching them their rights and helping them acquire the knowledge necessary to become registered voters by passing the required test.
