Could you please block {{IPVandal|72.186.88.137}} as a sock for some appropriate period of time. Per [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Professional_wrestling&diff=prev&oldid=178828737 this edit] to [[Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Professional wrestling#Armageddon 2007|this section]], his generally aggressive editing pattern, and the [http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/whois.ch?domain=72.186.88.137&cache=off&email=on WHOIS] info listing him from Riverview, Florida, I think he's a sock. He claims to be from Tampa, Florida[http://localnews.wikia.com/wiki/User:Monnitewars], which is right near Riverview [http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Riverview,+Florida&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=N&tab=wl]. Flying away I will be traveling home to spent the holidays with my family this week, so messages left here will probably be responded late next Wednesday or after, To all my friends here I wish them a great time regardless of what tradition they practice (or if they don't practice one), so enjoy the celebration of your choice be it Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or none of the above, cheers! - Caribbean~H.Q. 15:58, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Elite

I agree the section doesn't really have any good info in it- it's not going to help a non-fan understand the topic any better, and there's no developer commentary on it. David Fuchs (talk) 15:33, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll see if I can dig up more- there's bound to be some more stuff on him somewhere. As for the First Strike reference, it is hinted that the Arbiter is the one Master Chief grapples with and throws out of the Ascendant Justice; however, we never really know, so it's kinda stupid to put it in unless someone said specifically. David Fuchs (talk) 12:28, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Arbiter

In a word: nice. Yeah, MTV does randomly pop up, don't it? Now we actually have a decent char design section, not to mention article! By the way, how'd you come across it? David Fuchs (talk) 19:54, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

answer

I answered you on my talk but I did not see a reply, were you aware? Please answer there if there is additional information you want, thanks. ++Lar: t/c 12:57, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have been having some trouble with my laptop and it reduced my editing time so I kind of limited myself to very minor watchlist browsing, anyways thanks for the information, if Hypathia is the same user there might be more I will try to establish comunication with Deskana who is a checkuser to see what he recomends. - Caribbean~H.Q. 23:49, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Can we keep this all together in one place please. I'd prefer that this be on my page as that is where it started. Per my policy :) ++Lar: t/c 12:27, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Burntsauce

Yeah, I've been keeping tabs on the RfAr to see what Alkivar's fate would be. It appears that this user is a meatpuppet, which would explain why the CheckUsers were powerless. At least the Arb Com is taking a stance against him, which honestly surprises me since many admins liked him. I'm just happy that he left wrestling articles a while back so I didn't have to put my money where my mouth was, and fight him in the streets, courthouses, and the hearts of men. Cheers, The Hybrid T/C 06:11, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, but now that this account is blocked anymore of his accounts can be dealt with by CheckUsers. I think we have him beat. Cheers, The Hybrid T/C 06:18, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can count on my support in this matter; I will be on the lookout as well, and I'm sure the entire project will be to. I will post a notice at WPT:PW. Cheers, The Hybrid T/C 06:26, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Night, The Hybrid T/C 06:33, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah

Look at my comment on WPT:PW. Block him. Peace, The Hybrid T/C 01:32, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

LOTD proposal

You either voted on the original list of the day proposal or the revised version. A more modest experimental proposal is now at issue at WP:LOTDP. Feel free to voice your opinion.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 17:25, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hypathia

User:Hypathia, doesn't seem to be a bad-faithed person, I could be wrong since I haven't followed alll of the issues involved. Would you consider working out some type of compromise or agreement with User:Hypathia? It is your call and I will back you up in your decision. Tony the Marine 19:47, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please see the talk at User talk:AGK. What happened? --Dweller 21:17, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah. You misread the message - "does not exist" because it no longer exists - it's not fictional, just defunct. The originator was arguing that the fact it's defunct proved it wasn't an advert. I think AGK just made a mistake not removing that message (he'd previously forgotten to remove the speedy tag!) that was posted as a hang-on message when it was threatened with speedy the first time. --Dweller 22:21, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No idea. But I wouldn't be too surprised to find minimal/no Google hits for a defunct company from the subcontinent. My suggestion to AGK was to restore, list for AfD and invite a relevant WikiProject to comment there / amend the article. --Dweller 23:01, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Halo on Xbox 360

The original Halo is being released as a downloadable game on the Xbox 360 on December 4, 2007. This 'virtual console' per se, is being released as part of the Fall 2007 Dashboard update. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Firebomb 87 (talkcontribs) 01:32, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You need to cite a reference, or else, you'll be reverted! --EoL talk 01:35, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I realize that. I'm trying to put the reference, but keep making mistakes. The error is still there, and Wiki will no longer let me fix it. Go ahead and fix it. Also, go to the link for my reference, proof.

Featured List of the Day Experiment

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 17:36, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - that user is autoblocked as a result of your block of Media Cop (talk · contribs). Could you evaluate his unblock request? Thanks, Sandstein (talk) 06:46, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry that I wasn't able to attend it, Ileft a message with a apology on his talk page as the unblock request was attended shortly after posted. - Caribbean~H.Q. 22:53, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another sock for User:Hornetman16

Unless I'm mistaken, you blocked the last sock of Hornetman16. I think you might be interested in the new user User:HDman. He created his account on Nov 22. He immediately began to edit wrestling articles...including commenting on the color of the wrestling infoboxes, which were originally created by Hornetman. His last sock, sweetsweetdaddy was discovered about the time he changed the colors of the infoboxes to gold. Another similarity is the box around the signature. I want a second opinion, as I'm a new admin and don't want to go around blocking people without some input. Thoughts? Nikki311 05:13, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He's been indef. blocked. Nikki311 19:40, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I couldn't help you on the moment, last time around the account was quite obvious and I discussed it with Hybrid before proceding, he is quite familiar with MO of the puppeters that edit the wrestling articles, if I'm not available he is someone that I trust if there is some help needed. - Caribbean~H.Q. 22:37, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tengo tres preguntas:

  1. ¿Hablas español? porque si no, me parezco un pendejo escribiéndote en español
  2. ¿Tú vives en Puerto Rico? ya que soy puertorriqueño, y vivo en San Germán
  3. ¿Eres miembro de http://www.es.wikipedia.org ? Lex T/C Guest Book 06:40, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Honored by the PR Senate

My dear friends in Wikipedia,

I would like to share with you that today, November 28, 2007, I was honored by the Senate of Puerto Rico with the "Resolution of the Senate Number 3603" in appreciation for my work in Wikipedia regarding Puerto Rican military related articles. I was given the resolution on behalf of the Senate by the President of the Puerto Rican Senate, the honorable Kenneth McClintock. It was a total surprise which I did not expect and that is why I want to share this news with you my friend. Tony the Marine (talk) 04:43, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I know that you haven't been in Wiki for a couple of days but, I want to share the resolution with you. You can see it here: Press Releases. The pictures did come out that good, I'll download some better ones in the future. Tony the Marine (talk) 06:49, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

3RR

there is a discussion on the article's talk page. Artlondon (talk) 16:34, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

more than one person has to be involved in 3RR, but you warn only one. Artlondon (talk) 19:23, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
only because the user:Sevenneed is probably a sock puppet of user:Spookee; glad you took time to look at the article edit and user edit history before jumping in on this one. Artlondon (talk) 11:33, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Menudo and more...

I just wanted to thank you for your help there and to ask whether you will be able to keep an eye on it through early next week? I am travelling on Monday, and testifying before a US Senate subcommittee on e-government on Tuesday, and then travelling again on Wednesday. I will try to stay on top of this as well. I recommend protection or at least semi-protection be extended until we are sure things are calmed down. It is so wonderful to have good Wikipedians keeping an eye on stuff like this. :) Thank you!--Jimbo Wales (talk) 17:00, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

HELP!

what the devil is that? i have not only not posted any such thing in my life, but i have no idea what that even means! how could that possibly say it's me? i have no reason to attack that guy, and have never attacked anyone (the only reason i even responded to his attack with a personal privledge - weeks ago and forgotten by me until this - is to improve the article). good God, i don't even know what that means. how could this have my name attached to it - can you help me find who has my name, and tell me how i can report this? shouldn't it have the internet address that can be found? please help - wikipedia is awesome, but i don't really understand the in's & outs yet--Snideology (talk) 01:42, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

hey wait - look at my contributions! this wasn't from me. someone else somehow signed my name, but i never ever did such a thing. what is going on here?--Snideology (talk) 01:48, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
ok that user's ip address is 69.156.179.180, which seems to be in canada. notice that my ip comes is in arkansas. it wasn't me, but can you tell me how someone could use my name, without it even showing up on my contributions? this sure is strange--Snideology (talk) 01:58, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
the day who showed up? what do you mena active editing? when did i return to active editing? and yes please please do that checkuser thing. why would i suddenly attack someone (which i have never done) after a month or two has gone by from a minor dispute that was resolved? look at my edits - it doesnt make sense —Preceding unsigned comment added by Snideology (talkcontribs) 02:07, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
could you do that? i don't know any administrator (and didn't know you are one), but i would very much like this attended to. i would be indebted, since i am quite disturbed at the notion of vulgarities (was that post a vulgarity? i don't fully understand it, but it seemed to be) being attributed to me - at least on wikipedia. please post it on the administrator's page; i would like to know how someone could use my id without it showing up on my contribs - doesn't seem quite fair i daresay. thank you for the help!--Snideology (talk) 03:14, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
question - how can someone impersonate me without using my account - i.e., without either having my password or it showing up as one of my contribs? i just don't understand. i will try to figure out how to post that tonight. again, thanks for the help!--Snideology (talk) 02:58, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
thanks for the reply. please understand that at least in my case, learning the in's & out's of wikipedia takes time, and since i just plum don't know much about the mechanics (which is why i usually only do minor editing), i have to ask when something outrageous happens, and may not fully understand the explanation at first. i hope this will be the end of this problem. again, thanks for your help!--Snideology (talk) 23:59, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Halo Universe

It's simple really. I personally think that it is a neat little tidbit of information, especially since the ground troops in the game are marines, which, if you didn't already know, are a branch of the army. The Baconator (talk) 03:29, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Marines are not Army but rather a separate branch of the military, however adding something like that to a article tends to read like trivia and such additions are discouraged because of their unencyclopedic nature. - Caribbean~H.Q. 03:34, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ohhhh, okay. I will refrain from making any comments like that in the future. Thank you for the clarification on why you removed it. The Baconator (talk) 03:40, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What Next

Hard to say- I would like to get all the Halo stubs up to at least start class, for one. Then I guess Halo 3 to FA, make the Characters a Featured list, and then we could have two featured topics - Halo (series) and Halo characters. David Fuchs (talk) 23:45, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, featured topics only need "at least three distinct articles" that connect, so List of Halo characters, Cortana and the Master Chief would be all we need actually. Probably, Johnson and/or the Hiearchs might get merged back into the main article, but right now all the list needs is as much out of universe info as we can dredge up. David Fuchs (talk) 00:02, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE:Notice of report

Not really. Like you said, I've had several of these fans already. Just leave them alone and they'll get tired of doing this. Thanks for looking out for me, though :-) Feliz Navidad. --Agüeybaná 14:44, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's hard, specially because it's a multilingual project, so I have to deal with people who upload copyvios constantly, but only speak 普通话, język polski, or even עברית. For example, I recently had to leave a final warning in French to a user who uploaded a copyvio multiple times. But, the Commons community is great, and there's not as much fighting or vandalism as there is here :-) --Agüeybaná 22:35, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How exactly...

...Are you responsible for the thread? All it looks like to me is some anon acting like a dick. Cheers, The Hybrid T/C 16:27, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, no, there won't be any problems. I've seen subpage MfDs before; it won't be deleted even if it is nominated, but to nominate it means to beat me to the punch. If it looks like something will happen, I'll have it speedied, and recreate it in a couple of weeks :P The Hybrid T/C 22:38, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Genocide of the Taino/Arawak and Carib Indians

A large number of native americans died as a result of disease but huge numbers of amerindians died as a result of being murdered. They were used as dog food, killed for sport, and for other no good reason. Do a quick search on google and you'll be able to find a lot of information. [1]. Even "into the Spanish and English languages that persists till this day. The famous Jesuit missionary and historiographer, Bartolomé de las Casas, wrote in 1561, "There were 60,000 people living on this island (when I arrived in 1508), including the Indians; so that from 1494 to 1508, over 3,000,000 people had perished from war, slavery and the mines. Who in future generations will believe this?" " [2] UnclePaco (talk) 12:09, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know, all this is taught in school to anyone born in any point in the Caribbean (or at least in Puerto Rico), however the section title's was misleding as it not only dealt with the genocide of the natives but also included mention of the number of natives that died of foreing disease, I wouldn't recommend using 'genocide' though, for some reason Wikipedians like to keep it neutral, dead neutral to the point that not even Adolf Hitler is labeled as a dictator directly, what I mean is that having such a strong word in the title of a section might affect the article when the time for a good article nomination comes around. - Caribbean~H.Q. 15:19, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
thanks for understanding. perhaps i shoud separate it. i fixed it up a lot in order to make it more clear. disease played a large role, but much of the death was a direct result of spaniard domination of the native culture. in Cambodia one to 3 million people were killed and this was labeled to be genocide. [3] there were more killed in hispanola, so why would this not be deemed to be genocide? thanks for your attention. UnclePaco (talk) 16:40, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
