Ha'argaz, founded in 1932, is one of the oldest leading industrial companies in Israel.

History

Ha'argaz was founded on August 18, 1932 as a cooperative manufacturing work boxes for citrus production. The first factory of Cooperative trunk was founded on May 1, 1933 in Tel Aviv, on Salomon street at the corner of Gaon. After three months of development and construction of the factory were factory new machines and began to work regularly. In 1933 sought founders of the plant further employment and contacted with "expert" His main work was the development and production vehicles from tree to buses. on September 15, 1933 began construction of another factory L"hargz "in Neve Shaanan in Tel Aviv. During heavy rains in November 1938, the factory in Neve Shaanan was flooded and workers toiled for hours save many raw materials [1]

During 1936 a Defense plant was established which produced armored and protective vehicle bodies.

During World War II the plant expanded and added many full time employees. It was later decided in 1945 to convert the box to a company half owned by investors and half-owned by a workers cooperative.

In 1949 owner of Ha'argaz decided to take it upon themselves to produce jerry cans, military helmets and a variety of logistical equipment for the newly established Israeli army. Following the successful managers have decided to "trunk" to initiate additional projects such as collaboration with " AMPA ", becoming exclusive import agent for Philco refrigerators from the United States. This collaboration led to the creation company Amcor a factory of refrigerators and electrical appliances.

In December 2000 the company was acquired by the Histadrut by Hagai Shalom incumbent chairman of the group. Due to a change of ownership through Ha'argaz underwent a streamlining process, As of 2008 revenues estimated at NIS 200 million. Major activities of the company today are: transportation, metal and packaging, wooden furniture, portable structures and systems for display and storage.

Today Ha'argaz is one of the providers of buses headquarters of Egged and Dan bus companies and other private and public transportation companies in Israel. Crate factory is the second largest producer bodies in Israel, after company Buses(that is also about producing vehicles to vehicles and public transport ).

Organization

Haargaz group combines several subsidiaries:

  • Ha’argaz Storage, Cooling and Display Systems – Providing Turnkey solutions for Storage, Refrigeration and Display systems.[4]
  • Ha’argaz Technopach Metal Industries Ltd - produces industrial civil and military packaging, including handling equipment and aviation equipment, electronic packaging for the electronics and communications industries and the high-tech industry.Advanced metal processing for the security & defense market.[5]
  • Taditel Ltd - develops and manufactures microelectronic technologies for the automotive and hi-tech industries.[6]
