"Don't Get Around Much Anymore" is a popular song & jazz standard.

The music was written by Duke Ellington, the lyrics by Bob Russell. The song was published in 1942.

This song has been covered by many artists and there are usually three ways in which it's covered.

1. A vocally dominated cover- This version is the singer sings every verse and every chorus, backed by the band.

2. A purely instrumental cover- This version is purely instrumental, with different parts led by different instruments and usually two or three sections of improvisation.

3. A shared cover- This version is usually started by a singer who takes maybe the first verse and chorus, and then a solo instrumentalist will take over for a while. perhaps with improvisation.
