The Moon Area School District facilities
The district currently owns eight schools

- J.H. Brooks Elementary School
- Carnot Elementary School - original elementary school, then leased to USAir and closed after the airline down-sized)
- R. Hyde Elementary School
- McCormick Elementary School - closed in the late 1980s, then leased to USAir before being closed when the airline downsized, now being renovated and expected to open in the fall of 2007
- Bon Meade Elementary School
- Moon Area Middle School
- Moon Area High School
Allard, Hyde and McCormick elementary schools are 'sister schools' as the three buildings are identical.
To Build or Not To Build?
For several years, the Moon Area School Board has battled with the idea of building or renovating its current facilities. In 2004, board members voted to renovate the current high school into a future middle school and tear down the current middle school and replace it with a future high school for nearly $95 million, well above the amount borrowed.
The plan was halted in 2006 when a new school board took over. The new plan calls for reopening McCormick Elementary School, building a new middle school and renovating the current high school.
Trivia
