State Road 825 passes through a part of Miami-Dade County in which farmland is rapidly giving way to residential developments and business parks, an urbanization process that has been accelerating since the 1990s.
State Road 825 begins at the intersection of Southwest 137th Avenue and Southwest 128th Street, near the entrance of the Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport. It then intersects Southwest 104th Street, the former State Road 990, continuing north through residential housing. At Southwest 90th Street, commercial businesses take over the landscape of SR 825 for the last two blocks until it terminates at the intersection of State Road 94, the only state road that SR 825 intersects.

The road is also anomalous in a couple of ways. It is misnumbered: in Band 9, it lies further west than SR 985 (Southwest 107th Avenue north of SR 94) and SR 989 (Southwest 112th Avenue south of U.S. Route 1) and east of SR 997 (Krome Avenue). Its location would normally merit a designation of State Road 993 in the current grid method of numbering Florida State Roads instead.

History
Despite that it lies entirely on the mainland of Florida (and not surrounded by water), SR 825 connects to only one other State Road (SR 94) – this was not the case upon original designation (when it connected with SR 990 before the east–west route was drastically shortened to its current configuration) – and there is no connection between SR 825 and any designated County Roads.
The Florida Department of Transportation added the route in the early 1980s in a campaign to increase access to the county's commercial airports.

Future
With the continuing population growth of western Miami-Dade County and the current construction of the western extension of the Dolphin Expressway (first to Northwest 137th Avenue five miles (8 km) to the north, then to Southwest 136th Street near Southwest 147th Avenue), the importance of SR 825 as a commercial and commuter highway is expected to continue to increase in the coming years.

State Road 825, locally known as Southwest 137th Avenue and Lindgren Road, is a 2.57 mi (4.14 km) north–south road, extending from the entrance of the Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport north to State Road 94.

Route description

State Road 825 begins at the intersection of Southwest 137th Avenue and Southwest 128th Street, near the entrance of the Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport. SR 825 heads north, with the airport to the west and commercial business to the east of the road. At Southwest 120th Street, SR 825 exits the airport property, and drives through residential housing for most of the rest of the route. Prior to the 1990's, most of this route was surrounded by farmland. It then intersects Southwest 104th Street, the former State Road 990, continuing north through residential housing. At Southwest 90th Street, commercial businesses take over the landscape of SR 825 for the last two blocks until it terminates at the intersection of State Road 94, the only state road that SR 825 intersects.[1][2]

History

The Florida Department of Transportation added the route in the early 1980s in a campaign to increase access to the county's commercial airports.

Future

With the continuing population growth of western Miami-Dade County and the current construction of the western extension of the Dolphin Expressway (first to Northwest 137th Avenue five miles (8 km) to the north, then to Southwest 136th Street near Southwest 147th Avenue), the importance of SR 825 as a commercial and commuter highway is expected to continue to increase in the coming years.

Major junctions

The entire route is located in Kendall, Miami-Dade County.
