Rákoskert is a former town in Hungary now part of District XVII of Budapest until it was united with Budapest on 1 January 1950. The population here is around 9372.[2]
Location
Rákoskert is located in District XVII of Budapest and lies between Ecser and Rákoshegy. An area is also included in the neighborhood known as Strázsahegy. This part of the district is the most eastern and at the same time the farthest location from the city centre in Budapest. Even though most of the city is located on a plain, Rákoskert (and also most of the XVII district) resembles a hilly area.
History
Rákoskert was part of Rákoscsaba for most of its history. The official date of Rákoskert's creation is 1933. February 19th, when Schell Baroness, who owned this plot of land, partitioned the area into smaller plots. From 1937, the local train station was upgraded to a normal station. [3]
