Saigon: Year of the Cat is a television drama first broadcast in 1983. It was directed by Stephen Frears; the screenplay was by David Hare.

It stars Judi Dench, Frederic Forrest, E. G. Marshall and Chic Murray.

Synopsis

Barbara Dean (Dench), an assistant manager in a foreign bank in Saigon in the last months before the fall of the city to the hands of the North Vietnamese, begins a relationship with American Bob Chesneau (Forrest), and quickly senses that he works for the CIA. Chesneau realises that the fall of Vietnam is for the very near future.
