Het Scheur is a branch of the Rhine-Meuse delta that flows west from the joining of the Oude Maas and Nieuwe Maas branches past the towns of Rozenburg and Maassluis. Originally, it curved south past Maassluis to join the Brielse Maas near Den Briel, but it was dammed off and connected to the Nieuwe Waterweg ship canal to form the new, semi-artificial main mouth of the Rhine-Meuse delta.
