Thamnocephalidae is a family of crustaceans with widespread world distribution including Western Australia and Southern Africa, notably the Makgadikgadi Pan of Botswana. A species within this family, Branchinella spinosa, is found in the seasonal lake bed of the Nwetwe Pan in Botswana.[2] Six genera are recognised, in two subfamilies:[3]

- Phallocryptus Birabén, 1951
- Gurneya Brtek, 1996
