The Geographical Journal is a journal of the [[Royal Geographical Society]] (RGS) and has been ublished since 1831. The journal has the highest circulation of any British academic journal in its field and publishes original research papers and review articles across [[geography]]. Prior to 2000 the journal was used as the report of the RGS with the Society's news published along side articles, however, since 2000 the journal has focused on research relating to the [[environment]] and [[development]] and no longer contains Society news but still publishes the RGS's [[AGM]] and the Presidential address. The journals [[impact factor]] is 0.882 and was ranked 22 out of 38 in the ISI Journal Citation Reports Ranking for geography in 2005.

The Geographical Journal is a quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal of the Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers). It also publishes shorter Commentary papers and Review Essays.[1] Since 2001, The Geographical Journal has been published in collaboration with Wiley-Blackwell. The journal was established in 1831 as the Journal of the Royal Geographical Society of London.
