(Hey You) The Rock Steady Crew is the first and most famous single from the breakdance and musical group Rock Steady Crew . The song was released in 1983 by the Charisma Records label . He also appeared on the debut album Ready for Battle .

The song achieved high placements in a number of relevant record markets. In its fourth week it reached its highest level in the British music charts at number six and in many European countries it was in the top 10. It was therefore a great success for the breakdance group, which otherwise became known mainly for their performances. However, the participating musicians benefited little from their success. The mostly young group had no experience in the music business and although more than a million copies of the single were sold, they received little money from the record company Charisma Records . In addition, they had no creative control over the music released under their name. The situation came to a head after Charisma Records was bought by Virgin Records . The group was forbidden to perform live. So her first hit single was the temporary end of her career.
