Kiko Veneno (born on April 3, 1952 in Figueres (Spain) under the name José María López Sanfeliu) is a Spanish flamenco rock musician who lives in Seville .

Kiko Veneno was born in Figueres, Catalonia, and grew up in the Andalusian port city of Cádiz before moving to Seville with his family at the age of nine. He got his nickname and later stage name Kiko at the University of Barcelona , where he studied history and philosophy. After graduation, he traveled through Europe and the United States, where he attended concerts by Frank Zappa and Bob Dylan , who influenced his later musical style as well as Andalusian flamenco music. In 1975 he founded the “Veneno Band” with the brothers Rafael and Raimundo Amador. In 1975 they released their first album entitled "Veneno", which was produced by Ricardo Pachon. Although the album wasn't a hit then, it is now considered a Spanish classic.

In 1979 Veneno worked on the album La leyenda del tiempo with the famous flamenco singer Camarón de la Isla . The song “Volando voy” published there is a hit that is still popular in Spain today and has been covered by many bands. In 1982 he created his first solo album entitled Seré Mecánico por Ti , which was produced by Jose Luis de Carlos and brought little commercial success. In the eighties Veneno published more songs, but earned little money with them, so that he worked for the city administration in Seville at the same time.

It wasn't until 1992 that Kiko Veneno had success with his music, he got a record deal with Ariola and released the two albums Échate un cantecito and Está muy bien eso del cariño , both produced by Joe Dworniak. The songs "En Un Mercedes Blanco" and "Joselito" became hits in Spain. The success allowed him to live as a full-time musician from then on. Also in 1992 Veneno founded the band "Mártires del Compás" together with Chico Ocaña, Raul Rodriguez and Jose Caraoscura. Veneno and Ocaña fell out and the band split up. Ocaña continued with the old name, while Veneno founded the group "Caraoscura" together with Raul Rodriguez and Jose Caraoscura, which in 1995 released the album ¿Qué es lo que quieres de mí? brought out.

In 1999, Kiko Veneno completed a successful tour of Argentina. After three more albums, he canceled the contract with BMG Ariola and produced his own albums. His solo album El Hombre Invisible was released in September 2005 , after which he collaborated with various musicians on their patten and initially marketed his own music exclusively on the Internet. In 2006 Veneno founded the group G5 with Los Delinqüentes , Tomasito and Muchachito Bombo Infierno . In 2010 he released the album “Dice la gente” and in 2013 “Sensación térmica” was released.
