À la claire fontaine
À la claire fontaine (Eng. At the clear source ) is a French folk song that goes back to an anonymous poem from the 18th century. The song is very popular in France and the Francophone part of Canada , especially in the province of Québec . It was New France's first national anthem . There are numerous different versions of the song, which is also considered a nursery rhyme.

In its best-known form today, À la claire fontaine is about an unspecified man who mourns his love lost due to a bagatelle and hopes it will return to him again (“Pour un bouquet de roses / Que je lui refusai”, because of one Bouquet of roses, which I refused ).
